Around Sydenham Damerell
17-2-09
1hr 30 minutes
Mild, low winter sun.
Start close to Lane End (420765), take the well marked footpath through meadows to meet the lane, walk up the lane and then take the footpath on the left ( well marked). Go through the fields and exit ont a lane. Turn left , past Tuell Barns and left down a lovely green lane, ( A little muddy when I did it) Out onto a lane and then take the next lane on the left ( it looks like a farm track). Walk past Youngcott. In the vally there was Tamar Estuary mud ( navigable with care) as the stream had burst its bank. Exit in Sydenham Damerall , turn left and walk up the hill past the Methodist Chapel ( terrific views up the Tamar Valley). Take the footpath across the fies following the general direction of the arrow taking the right of the field boundary in the middle , go ver the stile into the field on the left , turn right and see the gate. Exit left and you are back on the original lane.
Birds:buzzards aplenty.
Flowers: wonderful snowdrops in the hedges all along the walk but especially in the road side near Tuell. Exactly how snowdrops should be.
Small joys: the snow in the shaded field edges after the rigours of the past few weeks. There was the first hint of spring in the air.
