Bake to Hessenford
Weather: bright and warm after some really wet weather and grey skies
Time: 2 hours.
Start at the Craft Centre close to Trerulefoot at the roundabout on the A38/A374 (330590). Cross the main road and head east towards Bake Lane End. The lane is quiet and there are good views to the north. Take the second left turn towards Wilton Farm and then follow the lane towards Bonyalva. Here the lane looks as if it peters out and becomes a farm track- stick with it- it becomes a lane again shortly. This stretch looks as if it is well used by cattle going to and from milking so not ideal for sandal wearers. The lane takes you downhill through woods and the double crows feet on the map are REALLY steep. Turn left and walk down the valley with the River Seaton on your right. On entering the village turn left up the hill and past the church heading towards Bake. At the lane end turn right and retrace your steps.
*Warning: some parts of the lanes eg Bake Lane End to Bake and the turn towards Wilton Farm are bedevilled by dog poo
Flowers: hedgerows looking very sad and bedraggled, purple predominates.
Birds: Still swallows around making kamikaze low flights between the hedges.
Small joys: Quite the reverse, there were an astonishing number of squashed ? frogs? toads on the lane running through Lydcott Wood
