Bealsmill
1hr 30 mins
Start at Bealsmill (3677), take the first left, across 2 fords to Hollygroave Wood, keep on the same lane past the Nortons, left and then left again to Bealsmill. This lane is a little ( but not much ) busier than the first.
Birds: A wonderful starling roost and display along the lane ( just where it says"Sprs" on the map) They were flying in the flexible clump formation and at one point flew over at hedge height so that I could feel and hear their wing beat. Not quite the display of the Somerset Levels where there ate tens of thousands of birds but it still felt spectacular and special. Buzzards galore.
Flowers: nothing special!
Small joys: a strangely wonderful smell of wet earth along the lane, so messy and muddy it felt like a field path.
