Between Chipshop and Horsebridge
1hr. 45 mins.
Mild, high cloud, no wind.
Start at the Scrubtor parking place (413744). Out of the car park turn left, down the road, cross the bridge and the footpath sign is visible . Turn right up the track, then go left ( well way marked) up the hillside ( friendly goats!). The track goes right following the contour of the hillside and climbs very steadily up the side of the valley. The track goes into a field and ends at the Hartwell signpost. Take the country lane towards Lane End and then the footpath (well marked) right heading across fields. At the second stile head diagonally across the field to the bottom corner. Enter another track and come out (legitimately) through a garden at Catsbridge. Turn left over the bridge and then right at the footpath sign across fields. Another old track takes you via Lower Woodley. The footpath was temporarily diverted in front of the cottage and then re-enters fields at the stile in the far left corner of the garden (looking at the house). Drop down the hillside,to the footbridge and then rejoin your original path.
Birds: lots of singing!
Flowers: the very first hedgerow primrose in bud and a bank of snowdrops between Woodley and Lower Woodley.
Small joys: the whole walk was a lovely spring ramble with the added pleasure of seeing 2 vixens in the fields close to where the map says Oatham
