Bray Shop ( no 2 )
Date walked: 2nd November, 2008.
Weather: Grey skies. Stiff breeze.
Time taken: 2 hrs.
The route is mostly lane, varied landscape and some wonderful views. It was a very rewarding walk for a Sunday morning.
Bray Shop, the lane across Tremollet Down, down the hill to Trekenner Mill, past the house left at the footpath sign, go diagonally across the field, the gate is in the opposite corner, scamper across the corner into the next field ( stile and well marked).Keep to the field adge and enter the wood ( stile well marked) Go past a lovely pond and through the farmyard and East Penrest, turn right and right again past Pengloss Cottage, retrce steps and take the first lane on the left after the bridge heading towards Tressallack, take the next two rights.
Birds: The whole walk was full of birds, especially finches on Tremollet Down.On the lane just before Pengloss Cottage there was an ash tree which was a starling roost that gave a noise a little like radio static- utterly wonderful
Flowers: still the odd red campion offering a splash of pink
Small joys: some wonderful covetable houses/barn conversions and a delightful pond.
** Barky but waggy tail dog loose on the road at Trekenner Mill
