Bray Shop
Date walked: 25th October, 2008.
Weather: High grey sky, Cold.felt like the first winter walk. Stiff breeze.
Time taken: 09.30-12.00.
Bray Shop, head towards Springfield and Chapel House, take the lane on the right to Little and great Llanhargy, keep right to exwell and head for Trerefters . I took the lane as I could not find the footpath into the field ( the farmer eventually told me that the sign had rotted and he had thrown itinto the hedge…), the lane is fine and at Trerefters ( where there is a footpath sign wher I should have come out)) there is a sign taking you through a metal gate, drop down the field towards the stream heading for Kingscombe. There is a wonderful pond, a well marked path up into the farmyard with barky but friendly dogs. Take the farm track- there is a bridleway sign that would be the path to Tregolfe but I was daunted by too many cows in the field ( and the signs petered out) so I carried on along the lane to Little Trelabe and ten retraced my steps.
Birds: the hedgerows here are full of birds and are a joy, foliage is reducing so they can be seen more easily.
Flowers: fewer, the hedgerows ar beginning to look very bedraggled.
Small joys: a face of with a dog fox in the lane returning to Llanhargy. We stopped and looked at each other for about a minute, he sitting, me standing. He moved first.
