From Gunnislake
Date walked: 25th August, 2008.
Weather: A lightening sky after morning rainl very wet underfoot.
Time taken: 2hrs
This was from the house down a regular cycle route passing my favourite house in the Tamar valley ( Oakenhayes). It could easily be done from the station at Gunnislake.
From Gunnislake centre(!) head down the hill towards the Rising Sun public house, continue along the road passing through Hatches Green, up the hill towards Colley Cliff and wonder at the garden at the cross roads wrought from a field earlier this year- now a blaze of colour, beans and sweet peas. Walk past Oakenhayes and yearn, at Slimeford \Far, turn left down the track ( unsignposted) Carry on down the hill, a yellow waymarker reassures a way through a garden and head down the left hand side of the swamp towards the river. Marvel and enjoy.
Birds: Buzzards aplenty over head.
Small joys: perhaps otter tracks in the mud?
