Gawton (off the Bere Alston Gulworthy road)
Date walked: 10th June,2008.
Weather: Perfect evening sunshine. Stiff breeze. Warm.
Time taken: 18.45- 21.00
This was a walk deliberately taken to use the evening sunshine on the east side of the Tamar Valley.
Gawton (off the Bere Alston Gulworthy road).Take track through farm ( 2 free dogs,1 mostly waggy, 1 not so sure- after calling out lady at the farm sorted them ), through a field and then left at footpath sign. Through fields and then some tricky navigation through horse country (Slymeford)- helped by young rider who pointed out the path up the side of the hiily field and into the trees. I dropped down the track towards Rumleigh House and then turned right towards Rumleigh Farm and beyond to reach the river.
Birds: swallows predominated.
Flowers:High hedgerows, roses and brambled.
Small joys: seeing Calstock and the west side of the river from ‘the other side
