Linkinhorne to the Lynher.
Warm sunshine, almost cloudless. Great walking weather.
3 hours with errors. A leisurely 2 hours otherwise.
Park in Linkinhorne (321735). The intention was to walk on the lane heading south east from the village and pick up the tracks (opposite Baddaford) across fields to Treven and return to Glebe Farm but there was no sight of any footpath markers .
The footpath on the same lane heading to Mornick is marked and is a lovely field walk. Follow the direction indicated by the sign, cross the stream by the stile and head up the hill keeping to the left hand field boundary. Exit the field in the corner through some rougher looking pasture and then down a lobvely narrow track to a farm lane which looks almost cobbled. At Mornick take the lane straight ahead to Wagmuggle. Turn right into the woods at the footpath sign. Cross the stone slab bridge and enter fields that have the feel of park land. The path looks as if it should go up to Stockaton but it took me via anothe stone slab bridge onto the bridletrack in Stockaton Wood. Turn right up a farm track to Browna and then onto the lane leading back to Linkinhorne past 3 beech trees close together. One has lots of old lovers inscriptions on it.Does Mark still love Cathy and Marion still love David?
Small joys: the pink bath at the end of the wooded track! Bumble bees.Orange tip butterflies. Drifts of blackthorn in the hedges. The almost mechanical sound of 2 Canada geese calling from the filed ad wood adjoining the Lynher.
Birds:Buzzards, Canada geese, chiff chaffs and a lot of singing.
Flowers: Daffodils are now coming to the end but there are the best banks of primroses I have ever seen, particularly on the lane back to Linkinhorne. Stitchwort, red campion, violets, ransoms and Green alkanet and Commo9n Vetch.
