Silver Valley
Date walked: 8th June.2008.
Weather: Glorious summer weather, the best day of the summer. Crystal clear light and views way over Plymouth and to the east.
Time taken: 14.30- 16.00.
Park on the A390 around Sevenstones. Take the footpath sign to Silver Valley Farm down the track. Through fields and under fallen tree, through a garden ( waggy Alsation and friendly Border terrier).Along a track, left along an old enclosed track and across a glorious meadow into an old wood with a mine, stream and the sound of rushing water. Along the tack into Harrowbarrow, left again towards the nursery, right after the nursery and past the Prince of Wales mine. Through gate across field and up the lane to rejoin A390.
Birds: surprisingly few, perhaps the heat.
Flowers: hedgerows in full bloom.
Small joys: using and coming out on the road along paths I had previously only seen from the car.
Navigational error: after the enclosed track from West Harrowbarrow head diagonally across the field, the gate into the wood will be visible. I headed too far to the corner.
