Weather: Bright, blue skies with clouds. Mild.

St. Dominick to Halton Quay via Smeaton**. Halton Quay to Fursdon, Burraton, Hunters Oak, Morden Farm to Cross and return to St Dominick.
09.40- 12.15.
A walk of quiet lanes, farm tracks, one of which cows obviousloy use to get to milking and pasture with a rocky woodland path towards the end. There were primroses, celandines, dog’s mercury, stitchwort in great profusion with forsythia and redcurrant and wild strawberry in the hedgerows up from Halton Quay. The oak was coming into leaf with the ash buds still firmly closed.
Flowers: Lungwort
Small joys: skylarks, the number of different daffodils and narcissi still in bloom in meadows, small holdings and small woods. A police car across the valley at Burcombe –possibly exercising their dog?
Strawberries under glass cloches at Fursdon
Navigational error:** after Smeaton Farm following the line of the lane at edge of the field turn diagonally at a complicated 3 gate interchange with the farm directly behind you and pick up a farm track leading to the road at Jubilee Cottages.
