Notter Bridge
Date walked: 26 9-11-08
Weather: High grey skies, strong wind, constantly threatened rain
Time taken: 10.00-12.00.
Start: Square 61-38 Notter Bridge
A short walk, mostly lane with some field. I had to re route through Landrake as I couldn’t get through the field on the footpath at Landrake back across country to Talvans Farmhouse- you will be braver!
Walk up the hill towards the cottage Penlynher- just before turn right*over the field ( a Cornwall County Council Gold Path!?), cross the field with wonderful views up the Lynher Valley. Turn left at farm up the lane to Wotton Cross – I inadvertently found myself at Penlynher again, retraced steps and headed for Landrake. There is a path on the left just in the village ( a CCC Gold Path) up some stone steps, well marked with an electric fence keeping you to the field boundary and thankfully out of some of the best plodge I have ever seen. The path I should have come out is opposite *The aim was to head across the valley to Talvand Farmhouse but cows and a bull were too much and I walked back through Landrake and Lowertown.
Birds: crows, and magpies.
Flowers: still some red campion, wild carrot, ragwort and knapweed
Small joys: some of the best wind whistling through pylons and electricity cables that I have ever heard.
